2008 was my first year pulling after re-building my father’s (Nick Palladino) former Super Stock.  Dad was NYTPA points champion from 1978 to 1984 in the 5,000 and 7,000lb Super Stock classes.  The tractor was retired in 1987 and only pulled once since in an exhibition in 1993.  The tractor is now methanol powered and fully electronic fuel injected.

Achievements:

Getting the tractor started.

Other:

Thanks to the team for patience and getting us this far.

Pulling History:

I graduated from Morrisville state college in Syracuse NY the spring of 2004. During my schooling there I built this pulling tractor. I have been pulling tractors for about 8 years now. It all started with my Super 99 Oliver, the other tractor I pull in the enhanced class. I love and enjoy tractor pulling. As any tractor pulling enthusiast knows they want more power! As well as a fan of Oliver I wanted to have an Oliver pulling tractor so I had to build one. In doing some research I found out that the Cummins diesel engine was used in the White Farm Tractors, so this started the project.

Since White and Oliver were combined in 1975 the set up I am using I can run in the Limited Light Super Class. It is a 1989 White 140. That is the model of the tractor, and it is named “MISS USED”.  It uses an Oliver 1855 rear end/axel housing. The front belly pan is a custom make tubular frame. The Sheet metal is White sheet medal but the dash and fenders are Oliver. The rear tires I purchased from Broughton Tire in Warsaw. The front end is a custom one I built. The cage was a kit I bought and had to cut and weld together. All the other add on-s and custom things I built my self, and with the help of a few other people. But if you have to add up the man hours to build a machine like this and keep it running it is priceless.

The tractor did not look like it does now when I graduated from Morrisville. It was ugly. Since 2004 I have added many things to make it look like it does now. The engine is a 5.9 Cummins single turbo, with a lot of engine work. It has a triple disc clutch from crower still putting power to the 1855 rear end. This season we will be on our 3rd engine, and hope to have this one survive the season.

Over the past 5 years our club and the tractor have been a growing project and growing sport. The amount of money spent on this is crazy, but it is far outweighed by the fun we have when we go to the events and put on a show for the fans. We hope this year to make all the hooks and be up in the top three again and have a lot of fun with the club in doing so.  Make sure you keep and eye out for the “MISS USED” pulling team.
